Stocks open higher on both bourses amid broad-based gains

Both the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) witnessed a positive start to Wednesday’s trading, with key indices moving upward during the first hour and most companies posting gains.

On the fourth trading day of the week, the DSE’s benchmark index, DSEX, gained 11 points. The Shariah-based index DSES rose by 2 points, while the blue-chip index DS30 edged up by 1 point.

During this period, out of 390 issues traded on the DSE, 223 advanced, 70 declined, and 97 remained unchanged. Market turnover at the DSE crossed Tk 300 crore in the opening hour, reflecting active investor participation.

The CSE also opened on a strong note, with its overall index climbing 32 points. Among the 90 issues traded on the port city bourse, 45 gained, 31 declined, and 14 remained unchanged, generating a turnover of Tk 6 crore in the first hour.

The upbeat start indicates improving investor sentiment, with broad-based buying driving early momentum across sectors.
