Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), in three separate anti-crime drives, arrested five alleged drug peddlers with 620 bottles of phensedyl and 226 grams of heroin from different areas of Rajshahi and Natore districts last night, RAB sources said this morning.

The arrested persons were identified as Razib Ali, 38, Alauddin Mondal, 55, Mostofa Kamal, 40, Muhammad Chhotan, 30, and Rabiul Islam, 35.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of the elite force conducted a sudden drive at Yusufpur area under Charghat Upazila and arrested Razib and Alauddin with 620 bottles of phensidyl around 00.10 in the night red-handed.

Another RAB team arrested Mostofa Kamal and Chhotan with 226 grams of heroin after conducting a raid at Harishpur bypass area under Natore Sadar Upazila around 8.30 pm.

Rabiul Islam has been arrested with one kilogram of ganja from Domrai Mollapara area under Bagatipara Upazila of the same district.

Later, the arrested persons along with the seized goods were handed over to police after filling cases with the respective police stations in these connections.
