The terrorist gang of Rafiqul Islam, chairman of Rongdhanu Group, has attacked Nawra village of Rupganj upazila in Narayanganj again, leaving six people, including a child, injured with bullets.
With this, 43 people suffered wounds, including 21 with bullets, in four attacks since January by the gangsters of Rafiq.
Some 150 terrorists, including Jasu, Alek, Shah Alam, Emdadul, Rahman and Nazmul, swooped on several houses of the village. The criminals broke the boundary wall of the house of Awami League leader Hazi Motaleb Bhuiyan.
Jummon Hossain, 11, and five other people sustained bullet wounds during the attack.
Locals said the injured were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in the capital for treatment.
Abul Pasha, the father of victim Zakir Hossain Jagu, said around 150 terrorists attacked their house in the evening, led by Rafiq’s younger brother Mizanur Rahman. “My son was shot before he knew anything.”
He said the terrorists have become desperate to occupy their land and that’s why they are carrying out attacks one after another to instill fear in them.
Jummon’s father Mozammel said, “What is wrong of my 11-year-old son?” Suddenly Rafiq’s terrorists entered the house and opened fire. My son’s entire body is covered with blood.”
He said Rafiq’s men attacked their village four times in the last 10-12 days to grab the land.
Earlier on January 29, eight people of Nawra village were shot in two rounds of attacks by Rafiq’s men, leaving 13 people, including women and children, injured.
DMC Hospital in charge of police camp Bachchu Mia confirmed the matter and said, ‘Due to a land dispute from Narayanganj, 6 people including women and children of the same family came to the emergency department after being shot. Currently, they are undergoing treatment in the observation of the emergency department. The doctor in charge said that the condition of all of them is critical. We have reported the matter to the concerned police station.
On February 5, Rafiq forces attacked the village again when eight people were shot and 16 others suffered injuries.
