The two-day 12th “Bangladesh-US Bilateral Defence Dialogue” began on Wednesday at the Bangladesh Armed Forces Division (AFD).
Since 2012, military delegations from Bangladesh and the United States of America (USA) have participated in the dialogue, read a press release of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Directorate.
The defence dialogue is very important for the mutual military cooperation of the two countries. Besides, various issues of military cooperation between the two countries will be discussed in this dialogue, it said.
This bilateral talk would enhance two-sided military cooperation in the fields of global and regional security, technology, defence equipment, disaster management, peacekeeping operations, training, inspections, joint exercises and drills, and workshops.
From the Bangladesh side, Brig Gen Muhammad Ali Haider Siddiqui, director general of AFD (Operations and Plan Directorate), was present at the dialogue, while Brig Gen Sarah Roos led the US delegation.
On behalf of Bangladesh, senior officials from various organisations, including the Armed Forces Division, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Border Guard Bangladesh, the Bangladesh Coast Guard, and others were present at the event.
The dialogue will further enhance military cooperation between the two countries and strengthen mutual friendship as well, the ISPR added.
