The Department of Youth Development has launched a major initiative to provide skill development training to 9 lakh youths across the country, including 5 lakh young women, by the year 2028.

Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain announced the programme in a Facebook post, highlighting efforts to integrate unemployed and untrained youths into economic and social activities. The project, named the Earn project, aims to enhance skills in work-oriented, suitable, and environment-friendly sectors to promote long-term employment.

Along with skill training, the programme will also offer micro-credit assistance to help trainees develop as entrepreneurs. The initiative targets youths aged 15 to 35, with a focus on ensuring that at least 60 percent are women, two percent belong to hill communities, and one percent are people with special needs.

Asif, also Adviser for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, noted that training will be provided in six categories, aiming to boost youth employment and entrepreneurship throughout the country.
