A Dhaka court has instructed authorities concerned to freeze four bank accounts of former lawmaker from Chattogram-6 Mostafizur Rahman Chowdhury, and his wife Shaheen Akter Chowdhury.

Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order on Wednesday allowing a petition filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

ACC�s court inspector Amir Hossain confirmed the information.

Deputy Director Murtoza Al Mamun of ACC told the court that they are investigating the allegations against the former lawmaker and his wife who have amassed huge wealth illegally by using political power and corruption.

The ACC Deputy Director in a petition told the court that a team of the ACC is investigating into the allegation which is now at the final stage.

He said the anti-graft body suspected that the account holders may handover, transfer and divert the deposited money to other accounts. If they can transfer the money it would be very difficult to recover so ACC prayed for freezing the accounts under section 14 of the Money Laundering Prevention Act-2012.
